Reflection Week 1 Main focus on Creativity this week .Students learnt how to animate and created their own animation, then movie. Students compared the Book Fantastic Mr Fox and the Movie, they then summarise in a Cartoon. For Music students wrote created and performed their on Ukulele song. They made their own symbols and this will lead on to reading music. In Maths students who required help with using (Reading/Understanding) Unit of measurement were helped. Class as a whole focused on solving area problems and were creating their own house .These houses will be shared ,so more area problems can be worked on. Success Criteria for Cartoons was also written by students in pairs. We Will combine and make class criteria. Blooms unit plan was formally introduced and students begun creating their own activities. In Reading Word recognition list were started and will be continued. Strategies for sounding out words was the main focus. The more able groups worked on cartoons and plays.

Reflection Term 3 Week 2 Awesome maths week. Played heaps of Maths games. Kids design their own 100 square metre house on paper then sketched on the courts. Students gain excellent understanding how big square metres are. Next step to make house on sketch up and integrate with language. Maori language week focused on basic language. Poor student knowledge need to do this regularly. Research questions started. Concentrated on using Keywords to find information. Lot more work needed. Students completed recount. This again needs more work, especially replacing words and perserving to complete quality work. I put the breaks on the animation to develop storyboard. Text still needed. Students really engaged but need to break down the process more. Cartoon not started. Focus next week problem solving, replacing:Editing and comprehension strategies.

Reflection Week 3 The students made a criteria for animation.Students now need to remember to use them consistently. In maths students learnt how to measure liquids and how to find volume. Students were really good at estimating. In problem solving students used the strategy guess and check. This will be extended in during Maths Week.The 2 words that we concentrated on were STRIVE, PERSEVERANCE. Reediting and striving todo their best was focused on. FOR READING STUDENTS CONCENTRATED ON FINDING KEYWORDS . THIS WAS INTEGRATED INTO MATHS AND TOPIC.

Word of week:Consideration. Reflection Discussion based around camp this week to ease the mind of those who are not convinced. Awesome week of Problem Solving.Used NZ Maths problem solving site and Nz maths week site. Students draw, guess and checked and draw tables to solve problems. Questions and keywords still prove a stumbling block. Reading integrated with writing centred around identifying key words and note taking and making. Aces needed support. Next step looking at conjunctions for mags and Aces. Students also work on their wikis. Awesome success with animations. Boys will able to manage themselves and incorporate many points from the success criteria. Girls not as successful and many lacked the detail included by the boys. Aim was to complete animations by Friday. Josh,Vincent,Nikki,Montel, Jesse and Navajo just meeting deadline but quality not what it could have been. Will assess together using our criteria next week. Reflection Busy week, Monday atended ERO lecture on their changes. Visited Camp in the afternoon. Tuesday half my class shared internet sites and how to make wiki’s and classtool games with 6 groups of students from the Horowhenua area. Impressive to see the skills of the students in Room 10 and how they could explain their learning to others. Excellent reliever who worked on dance, and ukulele. Maths lessons focused around NZmaths activities . Subracting and adding by estimating groups of 10’s was encouraged. Decimal place and division were concentrated on by Times and Division group. Wednesday and Thursday I concentrated on consoliadatinng maths facts learnt on Mon/Tues. Preparing for Camp : timetable and RAM’s was our topic focus. Wednesday Room 10 worked with Room 11 on designing animations.A lot more preparation is needed by Room 11 before this continues. A big focus on connectives was my literacy focus. More work needed on this. Sick on Friday.
